Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is an advanced inspection discipline that can be used for the detection of surface and internal flaws in a range of materials. It is also very common for UT to be used to gauge the thickness of materials with parallel surfaces (such as pipe wall thickness).
Automated UT (Time of Flight Diffraction – TOFD - and Phased Array-PAUT) refers to extremely advanced methods of inspection that can provide an alternative to traditional radiographic inspection (of butt welds for example).
Gtechnic Integrity Management inspectors are PCN trained and certified in Ultrasonics and have a wide range of experience conducting UT surveys on both onshore and offshore installations worldwide.
